About the Marysville Cookbook

Welcome to the cookbook, designed and printed for the residents of Marysville and surrounds.

This book is not your average cookbook that you look at and take a little bit from and then put back on the shelf.

You are meant to write in it!

There is plenty of room in the margins for scribbles. There is plenty of space for you to add your own recipes: there are blank pages just for that purpose.

You are meant to enjoy it and do what you do best—COOK!

The Marysville cookbook contains recipes that have been handed down from my Nanna and my mother, as well as a few of my own.

These recipes are mostly old-fashioned, simple and wholesome recipes that don’t require a great deal of attention or hard work—just the thing for working families.

Most recipes can be frozen or stored until tomorrow. Try cooking several at the same time and freezing the excess. You can then reheat as you need; it works a treat in our family.

Everything from soup to dessert recipes are included, including some yummy jam and pickle recipes: proper ‘Country Cooking’

Recipes vary from stove-top to oven to fridge—great for the kids—as well as microwave and slow cooker (crock pot) recipes.

The Marysville Cookbook is a little different from your normal cookbook in another way: the index lists not only the recipe titles but the main ingredients as their own entries. This is great when you open the fridge door and realise that you need to use a certain ingredient: you refer to the index and all recipes using that ingredient as a major component will be listed under it.
